And International Players Come to the US!
Mark your calendars! June and July of 2013 represent high water marks for three cushion billiards in the United States. From June 26 to June 30 the CPB is holding the Pan-American Championship in Cali, Colombia. Players from North and South America will meet to vie for the regional championship presently held by Carlos Campiño of Colombia.
The United States will field a group of four of its top players, led by current and six-time US Champion Pedro Piedrabuena. Joining him will be Hugo Patiño, Mazin Shooni and Michael Kang.
Coming up in July are two much anticipated events. First, the best of women's billiards will be showcased at Carom Cafe from July 14 to July 16. The current world's champion (Natsumi Higashiuchi), a former world champ (Orie Hida) and perhaps the best player in the world today (Therese Klompenhouwer) are scheduled to play along with US Players Mercedes Gonzales and Ester Park.
Then, the very best players from Europe arrive for the Verhoeven Open Tournament from July 17 to 21. Scheduled to play include Torbjörn Blomdahl, Frédéric Caudron, Eddie Merckx, Eddie Leppens, Semih Sayginer, Roland Forthhomme and many others. The USBA contingent from the Pan-American Championship will all be there along with many more top US players eager for the chance to play against some of the strongest in the world.
The Carom Cafe perennial event will have one more addition to its International flare. Kozoom, the premier organization supporting three cushion billiards worldwide will be sending its professional video production team to livesteam and record key matches at the event. Members of the Kozoom web site will be able to watch the games online as they take place, and replay the videos any time.
