USA Stopped by Sweden in Quarterfinals | Vietnam Wins Over Germany in the Final

The USA's magnificient run at the 38th World Championship 3-Cushion for National Teams came to an end in the Quarterfinals when they faced Sweden. A rejuvenated Torbjön Blomdahl, who had played exceeding well during the Qualification Round, continued his good form winning with 40 points in 16 innings against Raymon Groot. On the second table, Pedro Piedrabuena kept the Team in the hunt winning his match over David Pennor to force a 15 point Scotch Doubles tiebreak. Interestingly, both Blomdahl and Piedrabuena ran a 14 in their matches and they were both doing so at roughly the same time!

Sweden won the tiebreak 15-12 in 9 innings catapulted by a run of 8 in the 6th inning to bring the score to 13-5 in favor of Sweden at that point. The USA fought back scoring 2-4-1 bringing their total to 12 before Sweden scored the final point to close the match.

Overall, another solid performance by the USA at the World Championship 3-Cushion for National Teams!
