55th ANNUAL Southern Oregon Elks Invitational

3 Cushion Billiard Tournament

When:             Monday through Thursday, September 25 – 28, 2017

Where:             Ashland Elks Lodge, 255 E. Main, Ashland, Oregon 97520

Entry Fee:       $60.00 for all players (including one ticket for Thursday afternoon banquet)

The tournament will be limited to the first 24 players paid. All entries must be paid by Friday, September 15, unless special arrangements are made with the Tournament Director Don Dayan, who has come out of retirement to run this event. If you have received this invitation, you are a “Keeper”, someone for whom we have great admiration.

As most of you know, we also hold a very popular USBA Tournament beginning on Friday September 29 , continuing through the Sunday, October 1. This will be the 6th Annual Marti Tracy Memorial, sponsored by Bob Tracy in memory of his beloved wife. You may choose to play in either one or both of these events, If you are planning to play in the Marti Tracy tournament, playing in the team tournament as a warm-up would give you the advantage of better learning how all of the tables play.

Please send your entry fee (s) (and optional donation) payable to:

            Marc Smith

            159 Savage Creek Road

            Grants Pass, OR 97527

                                                Tim Poole, 360-463-3248

Format:           This is a Team Tournament which began in 1963 and has been an annual tradition ever since. Players will be seeded into teams by the Tournament Directors and will play against players on the other teams. We expect that with a full field of 24 players, each player will play about 14 games over 4 days. Length and number of games will be determined by the entries.

Tournament Details:

Six Gabriels Elements carom tables will be used in this tournament, the same ones that were used in the 2012 USBA Nationals.

All official USBA tournament rules will apply.

Play will be all day and into the evening Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday will be until 5 P.M., and Thursday will be over by noon.

For those playing in the USBA event, practice will commence after the banquet and continue until the Director calls it a day so the tables can be prepared for Friday.

Tournament Attire: appropriate casual wear. (Ties or vests NOT required.)

Billiard Cue/Case Exchange/Marketplace, A Special Event after the Thursday Banquet:

If you have anything that is of value related to Billiards or of general interest, consider donating it to the Ashland Elks Billiard Raffle. This will be held Thursday during the Banquet, another tradition. The funds raised are donated to the Ashland Elks Lodge and used for support of their various charities. This is a way to thank the Elks for sponsoring these great events.

The Exchange is new and we hope it will be a popular way for players to buy, trade or sell the equipment they own. This will be held immediately after the banquet and will not be supervised. You could use this as an opportunity to exchange or sell something you obtained in the Raffle if you wish. So if you have a cue that you think might be worthy of a trade, bring it along, even a cue case might be of interest. At this time we don’t want new equipment, only experienced equipment is desired

We hope to see you there for at least one event. You never know when this will be the last tournament, or your friend’s last. Don’t miss out on the camaraderie!!
