The First Annual Marti Tracy USBA Medford, Oregon Tour Tournaments (“B” Division and “C” Division) were held on July 20 – 22, 2012 at the Medford, Oregon Elks Lodge #1168. Fourteen players entered the “B” Division but only twelve participated; sixteen players entered the “C” Division and all sixteen played.

Eight new Gabriels billiard tables were purchased from the USBA National Tournament by the MOBA (Medford Oregon Billiard Association) and were used for the three-day tournaments. Mr. Ron Kilby of the Medford Lodge assembled them at the end of May and they played as well as they played in the Nationals.

In the “B” Division a complete twelve-man round robin was played. Neal Olson of Seattle, Washington went undefeated until the final match but only needed to score 18 points to win – he scored 20. Jose Lizarraga of San Jose, California had only one loss going into the final match with Neal; he defeated Neal 30 – 20 but as mentioned above, came in second with an identical record of 10 – 1.

Jesus Quinonez of Tacoma, Washington had a fine 8 – 3 record for third place. There was a tie at 7 – 4 for fourth place with Mark Hansen of Sacramento, California, Antonio Rivera of San Leandro, California, and Ramses Verlinden of McMinneville, Oregon. Mark Hansen won with more points. Rivera had the high run of eight.

The “C” Division was broken into two groups of eight players each. In the C1 group Jerry Gibson of Medford, Oregon, Chris O'Brien of Boston/Florida, and J R Greenlee of Medford, Oregon all tied with records of 5 – 2; they all went to the finals.

In the C2 group Mark Williams of Ashland, Oregon had a fine record of 6 – 1. John Fleming of Portland, Oregon, Alfred Wenzl of Medford, Oregon, and Marc Smith of Grants Pass, Oregon all tied with records of 5 – 2. Fleming and Wenzl went to the finals based on points.

The “C” Division Finals played a round-robin of six players but only four were to be paid. J R Greenlee and John Fleming tied with records of 4 – 1 but Greenlee was awarded first place based on points; Fleming got second. Jerry Gibson and Alfred Wenzl tied for third/fourth with records of 2 – 3 but Gibson was awarded third based on points; Wenzl got fourth. Wenzl also had the high run of nine.

The Medford Elks Lodge served food and drinks throughout the tournament and is to be thanked for their wonderful hospitality. The USBA will be having many more tournaments at this lovely site.

“B” Tournament 
(.800 Avg. or Less)
Date: July 20th – 22nd (Fri - Sun)
Entry Fee: $145 for non-USBA members
$120 for USBA Members (provide current membership card at player’s meeting) 
Players Meeting: Friday, July 20th, 9:00 AM 
Play begins right after meeting.

Top-Ranked USBA "B" players as of April 30, 2012 will be seeded, one per flight into the prelims if there are flights.

Prize Fund = $2,460 (based on 12 players and $1260 added) *
1st Place = $900
2nd Place = $700 
3rd Place = $500
4th Place = $310
HR = $50

Ranking Points to be awarded for this tournament (must be a USBA Member):

1 twelve man round robin, games played to 30 points, top four players paid.
Places based on W/L, Points scored, and Head to Head; ties broken by defensive points scored against. 
Rules: All official USBA tournament rules will apply.
Other Requirements: Tournament attire: dress shirt, black pants, black shoes. $10.00 USBA sanction fee per player plus $10.00 per player to the Medford Elks Lodge already included in entry fee.
*If more or less than 12 players sign up the above format will be adjusted and more or less prize money will be awarded.

“C” Tournament 
(.500 Avg. or Less)
Date: July 20th – 22nd (Fri - Sun)
Entry Fee: $105 for non-USBA members
$80 for USBA Members (provide current membership card at player’s meeting) 
Players Meeting: Friday, July 20th, 10:00 AM 
Play begins right after meeting.

Top-Ranked USBA "C" players as of April 30, 2012 will be seeded, one per flight into the prelims if there are flights.

2nd Place = $400

Preliminary Format:
2 Groups of 6 Players, games played to 20 points (Round Robin) 
Top 2 From Each Flight Advance to finals (NO carry-forward).
Places Based on W/L, Points, Head to Head and defensive points scored against.
Finals will also be 20 point games.
Rules: All official USBA tournament rules will apply.
