We billiard players are always trying to get pool players interested in our game. Not since Dallas West and Larry “Shorty” Johnson have we had a ”pool-player” that comes close to .500. Well, as I stated above, “we finally got what we wanted”.

The road to the USBA National Three-Cushion Championship at the SuperBilliard Expo in New Jersey next April is underway as players from around the country begin play in qualifying tournaments seeking to earn one of the coveted spots in the nationals. The current format for the national tournament will accommodate 48 players, but the top four place winners from 2012 have already earned a spot, leaving just 44 vacancies. Competition for those positions will be spirited. The USBA is exploring the option of expanding the field to 56 if needed.

Forthomme Joins Elite Group
In today’s world, news travels fast, and when there is news about a three-cushion billiard accomplishment, it travels even faster, at least in the world of billiards, which is what the sports entertainment business labels a “fanatical niche” market. Within hours of Roland Forthomme’s remarkable world-record-tying run of 28 in a Dutch League game on December 2, Bert van Manen, a Dutch player, made a post on the carom forum of AZ Billiards, an internet site dedicated to billiards.

National Champ to Give Clinic
The USBA will live stream the last two days of the USBA open three-cushion tournament to be held at Hard Times Billiards in Bellflower, California, from December 14 to 16.
